Father,
You are the God of all comfort, the One who draws near to the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We lift up women who have lost their husbands. You see the depth of her pain, the disorientation, the anger, the fear, and the loneliness that grief brings. Surround her with Your presence in a way that no human comforter can. Heal the raw places in her heart. Draw her close to You, the God who never leaves nor forsakes.
Lord, we ask that You would help her release the expectations she is placing on others and ultimately on You that stem from her deep loss. Soften her heart to receive the comfort that comes from You alone. Guard her from bitterness and from pulling others into her family’s pain in ways that harm relationships. Show her that You are enough, even when everything else feels taken away.
Help the families, all who grieve; to come to the place Mary and Martha reached after Lazarus's death: falling at Your feet, even in confusion and pain, and trusting Your timing and Your greater purposes. Align their hearts with Yours.
In the name of Jesus,
One who wept with those He loved.
Amen.
